How to play
Ternia is a duel on a 3×3 board. Each player has nine pieces: three circles, triangles and squares. Stacks are shuffled at the start. On your turn, play only the top piece of your stack into an empty cell or cover either colour: triangle covers circle, square covers triangle, circle covers square. The covered piece returns to the bottom of its owner’s stack; only the new piece remains in the cell. Win by forming a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line of three identical shapes in your colour. Passing leaves the stack order unchanged. Six consecutive passes end the game in a draw.
Planning moves
Plan with the available top piece, rather than choosing any shape from your reserve. Before covering, check which threat you remove and which piece you return to your opponent. Memory can help you follow returning pieces and their order; there are no hidden layers on the board. The random starting order affects your available moves.
